Introduction

This exhibition, curated by Katy Hessel, coincides with the publication of her major new book The Story of Art without Men, published by Hutchinson Heinemann on 8 September 2022. A pioneering exploration of women artists from the past 500 years, this book is the story of art for our times – one with women at its heart – brought together for the first time.
